Assist Holocaust Survivors to Age in Place

Letter of Support for the Holocaust Survivor Assistance Fund

Congress’ support for this vulnerable population comes at a critical time.  Survivors of the Holocaust are particularly distressed about reports of anti-Semitism globally and in the U.S.   Many fear the world has not learned the lessons of the past, and they worry about the world they are leaving for their children and grandchildren.   Social service agencies need to provide increased support to survivors to help them during this difficult time.

The program’s original funding request was $5 million in FY 2015, but only $2.5 million was funded.  This year, although the Administration requested flat funding at $2.5 million, we ask Congress to fund the full $5 million to ensure that these programs are sustainable and to address the increasing mental health needs due to the increasing anti-Semitism at home and abroad.

Please urge your Members of Congress to support this request. To sign the letter, congressional offices should contact either Sarah Arkin in Representative Wasserman Schultz’ office at Sarah.Arkin@mail.house.gov or Eddy Acevedo in Representative Ros-Lehtinen’s office at Eddy.Acevedo@mail.house.gov.

The deadline for signing the letter is Friday, March 20th.

Sincerely,
