 Jewish Disability Advocacy Day

January 7, 2015

Friends,

February is Jewish Disability Month. We hope that you will join us on February 25, 2015 in Washington, DC for the fifth convening of Jewish Disability Advocacy Day.

Brought to you by the organizations participating in the Jewish Disability Network, which is chaired by The Jewish Federations of North America and the Religious Action Center, Jewish Disability Advocacy Day is generously cosponsored by: Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies, HIAS, Hillel International, International Association of Jewish Vocational Services, JCC Association, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Foundation for Group Homes, Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, Keshet, National Council of Jewish Women, Orthodox Union, and the Rabbinical Assembly.

Jewish Disability Advocacy Day is an opportunity for professional and lay leaders from Jewish organizations and communities across the nation to come to Capitol Hill in Washington to raise awareness on their work and passion relating to individuals with disabilities and their families. It is also an opportunity for participants to celebrate passage of important legislation, to learn about relevant public policy issues, and to advocate on these issues with their elected officials.

Jewish Disability Advocacy Day includes:

  • An educational symposium from leading analysts providing a retrospective and necessary movement forward on key issues relating to disability and inclusion;
  • A briefing on relevant advocacy issues to raise with Congress and training on how to be a more effective advocate during these contentious times;
  • Lunch with key Members of Congress recognizing their leadership on disability issues; and
  • Advocacy visits with key policy makers.

Jewish Disability Advocacy Day will take place from 8:30 am to 5 pm on Wednesday, February 25 in the Capital Visitor’s Center. Registration costs $72 and includes a kosher breakfast and lunch. Registration must be completed by February 1. Please register here.

Kira Borman, JFNA’s Washington Engagement Manager, is coordinating the program and can answer any questions you may have. Kira can be reached at or 202.736.5888 or Kira.Borman@JewishFederations.org.

We hope you are able to join us here in DC on the 25th for Jewish Disability Advocacy Day.

Best,
