Tax clinic programs

 

Description: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) seeks applications for two programs to help low-income individuals and couples and seniors through next year’s tax season.

 

1The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Grant (VITA) Program funds efforts helping underserved populations file taxes. Grantees can use these funds for quality control, training and to improve the accuracy rate of returns filed. 

 

Funding Available: The IRS will provide $12 million for approximately 210 awards 

 

Eligibility: State, tribal and local governments, public and private colleges and universities and 501(c)(3) nonprofits can apply

2. The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program offers free tax help to individuals who are age 60 or older. 

 

Funding Available: The IRS will provide $6.1 million to approximately 40 programs 

 

Eligibility: 501(c)(3) nonprofits and tribal governments can apply
