Preferred Communities (PC) Program
Description: Grants to help refugees resettle in the United States, acclimate to American culture, and find meaningful work. The program assists refugee populations which have been unable to make the transition to self-sufficiency. Applications are encouraged from programs addressing needs of single moms, youth, and young adults without parents or permanent guardians who have spent an unusually long period under refugee camp conditions. Funding provides job training and language acquisition assistance.
Funding Available: $15.5 million for 9 awards
Eligibility: Nonprofit and public agencies
Deadline: August 1, 2016
