Housing for Everyone Grant Competition: Affordable Housing for Single Parent Families

 

Description: The Housing for Everyone program chooses a different housing-related theme every year. This year, applications must highlight the ways in which funding will create new or preserve existing units of safe, clean, physically accessible affordable rental housing for families headed by a single individual. The individual may be a parent, grandparent or guardian.

 

Applicants must include: details on access to medical and health services; proximity to schools, employment opportunities, day care centers, shopping, community and transportation services; and adaptability to the changing needs of today’s modern families.

 

Families being served must participate in certain nutrition programs at the Agriculture and Housing and Urban Development Depts. These include USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and HUD’s Sec. 202 (Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program).

 

Geographic Focus: Communities with TD Banks in CT, DE, DC, FL, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, RI, SC, VT and VA (additional information on service areas is available at: http://tinyurl.com/33pt8vv)

 

Funding Available: $2.5 million available for 25 awards of $100,000 each

 

Eligibility: State and local governments and nonprofits. (Applicants must have a history of developing, maintaining and providing affordable housing or affordable housing services for low- and moderate-income families or individuals.)
